Frequently Asked Questions

The Te Paerewa Programme is a uniquely developed process for undertaking formal recognition for your organisation’s activities that can be managed by you, for you. It is underpinned by core elements of international standards and supported by industry specific requirements for the field of activity your organisation may provide. The programme is provided over a 4-year cycle comprising self-evaluation components with an onsite evaluation by our experienced team of experts once every 4 years.

Te Paerewa Recognition can be offered if you meet the following:

  1. You do not have any regulatory requirement to be accredited.

  2. You operate with a limited scope of recognition e.g. stand-alone POCT, inspection of model engines, screening assessment for methamphetamine or asbestos inspection and sampling.

  3. Specific situations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

By achieving and maintaining Te Paerewa recognition, your organisation can demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements, along with adherence to core international quality standards.  This is beneficial in the competitive environment of your industry as well as providing assurance to contracting activity.

We would expect the initial evaluation to take no more than a day. This can vary depending on the scope of your organisation’s activities with more complex environments potentially needing more time. The duration of the process would be discussed with you at the outset so it is very clear what you can expect, when and for how long.

We provide a self-evaluation tool for you  to complete, along with a guide as to how to do this. This guide provides a summary of expectations for each area of review – what you need to look at, what your comment should include and how to manage any actions that may arise from your evaluation.

The areas assessed are all components of the General Conditions for Recognition along with any specific conditions relative to your industry. These documents can all be found on our website.

Your recognition status is continued each year after your evaluation is completed and you have demonstrated appropriate clearance of any non-conformities that may have been identified during this process.

We have developed a Guide to Recognition which can be found on our website. Our team are also available to discuss any aspects of concern and guide you in the right direction.
